There are two set-down points at either end of the city. Coaches can set down and pick up their passengers either in the Broadway by King Alfred's statue, which is central and convenient for visiting the cathedral or in Sussex Street which is ideal for visiting the Great Hall, the Westgate and the military museums at Peninsula Barracks. Waiting is limited to 20 minutes at both locations.
Please note (Spring 2008): The coach drop off point in Sussex Street is currently out of action due to work being carried out on the Hampshire Council Council buildings. In the meantime coaches may drop off in the lay-by next to the old bus stop in Gladstone Street.
There is a coach park for longer stays at Worthy Lane (near the railway station). The parking charge is £6 per coach per day, or part thereof.
Download our maps for more detail or request copies of either our visitor guide or pocket guide, both containing the access maps showing the two set-down points and coach parking for your coach drivers.
One satisfied group organiser said recently: "Thank you for prompt mailing of the Winchester guides I asked for. I am extremely happy with their clarity, especially with regard to coach drop off points and coach parking which are clearly shown on the map. Very unusual indeed I can tell you in the travel industry." (quote courtesy Mr M T)
