From October 1st 2006 new fire safety laws came into force making businesses directly responsible for the safety of all premises users. As a result, fire certificates have been abolished in favor of risk assessments to be completed by the owner, occupier or other 'responsible person'.
This is a piece of legislation relevant right across the tourism industry so please take notice and ask for help if you are unsure how to go about it. You can always reach one of the Hampshire Fire and Rescue team via their area office number on 01256 818 881.
Tourism South East have produced an information sheet summarising the changes and responsibilities in fire safety law. Download Tourism South East Fire Regulations and Risk Assessment (pdf).
