Miniature Steam and Models Day at Twyford Waterworks

Record numbers of visiting exhibits are expected this weekend at Twyford Waterworks. Their annual Miniature Steam and Model day will be packed with models, layouts, steam and more on Sunday 6th July between 11am and 4pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the fascinating world of modeling and see live demonstrations throughout the day.

Twyford Waterworks is holding its Miniature Steam and Models Day on Sunday 6th July 2008. Visiting miniature steam traction engines, rollers and showmans engines will be on display and in action around the site. There will be visiting modeling societies, railway layouts, hot air engines, live steam models and more. There will be a display of Lego and Tomy Tomica for the younger visitor.

The entire site will be open and the on-site engines and displays will be in operation. All the usual attractions will be on display and in operation including the preserved lime kilns and water softening plant, the Hathorn Davey steam engine and boilers (currently under restoration), the many petrol and diesel engines, the industrial railway, and a wide variety of chalk downland wildlife along the extended and developed nature trail. Visitors will learn how water was, and still is, pumped from deep in the chalk download.

The Tea Room and gift shop will be open and there is plenty of free parking. Admission will be £4 for adults while under 16s visit free. The doors open and 11am and the site closes at 4pm.
