QHotels' Norton Park first to Achieve Silver Standard
August 2008: QHotels' stunning Winchester property, Norton Park, is the first venue in the UK to be awarded the MIA's AIM (Accredited in Meetings) Silver standard.
The winning hotel recently underwent a fabulous £14 million re-development and as a result recently successfully completed the application and assessment process to become Silver accredited.
The hotel had to demonstrate consistently high levels of customer service with a minimum standard set by the MIA. To reach this standard the hotel was also peer group assessed, a system designed to encourage the sharing of best practice.
Andrew Mosely, Norton Park General Manager, said:
"This is a great achievement for us and we are delighted to be the first ever to receive this award. It is testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff at the hotel and underlines the group's commitment to service excellence."
Norton Park will receive its AIM Silver certificate at a presentation ceremony on Thursday 28th August. Jane Evans, the MIA's Chief Executive will present the award. She said:
"A number of venues have been racing to be the first to achieve Silver and I am delighted that QHotels' Norton Park property has been successful.
"Norton Park lead the way for the QHotels group and hundreds of other members who I know are keen to progress through the scheme."
Vivien Sirotkin, Director of Operations, said:
"QHotels was the first hotel group in the UK for all of its properties to receive the bronze accreditation. Norton Park has now set a new standard and I am confident that our remaining 20, four-star hotels, will quickly follow suit."

Notes to Editor:
- AIM Silver level accreditation is optional for MIA venue members and encompasses the requirements of the compulsory AIM Entry level; legal compliance, adherence to the MIA CODE, meeting facilities grading. Silver level requires members to meet the criteria set in the Best Practice Forum (BPF) Achieving Service Excellence with a minimum 80 per cent deployment score to evidence the consistent achievement of good service standards. Members are required to renew their Silver level accreditation every two years. At this level the standard is peer group assessed, a system which encourages the sharing of Best Practice.
