Fun and Games

It's hands-on not hands-off for kids at INTECH. Bringing to life the world of science, this interactive centre is housed in a futuristic pyramid on the outskirts of Winchester. Engineered for children of all ages, you can discover how to bend light, become a human battery and work your own production line.

Winchester plays host to a packed programme of events and festivals throughout the year. From MayFest: The Winchester Folk and Roots Festival to the outlandish Hat Fair - Britain's longest running festival of street entertainment - there is something to suit everyone. A sure-fire winner is the annual vintage bus running day, taking place on New Year's Day, with free rides on vehicles of all shapes and sizes around the district.

Theatre Royal Winchester stages workshops for children and young people during the school holidays, from street dance and mask making to set design. It also hosts a regular programme of family shows on Saturday mornings.

During the annual Children's Festival in February, the Tower Arts Centre and Theatre Royal Winchester come together to stage an action-packed half-term week of theatre, events, workshops and activities.

Perfect for rainy days or cooling down in the summer, River Park Leisure Centre is a fully equipped facility with a pool, a crèche, children's activities, a skateboard park and indoor adventure play area. Located in the city centre.
