About The Hospital of St Cross & Almshouse of Noble Poverty

The Hospital of St Cross has many beautiful spaces to hire for private events, corporate events, weddings and concerts.

    Hundred Men's Hall
    Capacity: 50 seated; 80 standing.
This is situated in the Outer Quadrangle, near the entrance gate in buildings which date from the 14th century and on the site where ‘hundred poor men’ were fed each day. Today it is used as the tea room in the summer months, and is available for hire in the winter (November – March).
It is not ‘state of the art’ but it does have a large projection screen, mounted high on the wall, and a stand, as well as power sockets. It is heated and is ideal for lectures

    The Brethren's Hall
    Capacity: 60 seated; 100 standing.
This rustic hall is where the Brothers gathered and ate for several centuries. Almost all the original features can be seen today, including the central fireplace and the leather fire buckets.
Please note there is no heating, power supply or hot/cold running water.

    The Church
    Capacity: 250.
This historic and beautiful building provides an ideal setting for weddings and concerts.

    Wedding Receptions
The wedding breakfast is held in the Old Bowling Green, an enclosed lawn area used exclusively for private functions. It is adjacent to the Church and big enough to cater for a large marquee. The specialist marquee provider can offer a complete and personal service for wedding receptions.
It may also be possible to book the Master’s Garden for a short drinks reception. (Note: the pond has deep water and children must be supervised).

    Parking
There is very limited parking at the Hospital of St Cross. If you are coming to visit, please consider using public transport. It is only a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute bus ride on the No1 Bluestar bus from the city centre. The bus stops conveniently at the end of the driveway. Parking for events is available in either the Meadow or Park between March and October and needs to be booked in advance. Grassland parking areas are unfortunately not available between October and March.
