Address:
University of Winchester, Sparkford Road, Winchester, SO22 4NRAbout West Downs Gallery
The West Downs Gallery is situated in the University of Winchester’s West Downs Centre, a learning and teaching building which was completed in 2020.
The gallery mounts exhibitions showing a variety of work by established artists, many with Wessex connections. The statue of Greta Thunberg was created by artist Christine Charlesworth in 2021 as a symbol of the university’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and social justice.
There are a variety of sculptures, sited around the university campus, which can be enjoyed at any time. A self-guided Art Trail brochure is available from the main university reception on Sparkford Road during office hours.
