Tour options
Upper City Tour 11am
A 1½ hour walking tour of the historical sites in the upper part of the city. The tour will commence at Winchester Visitor Information Centre and pass along the historic High Street towards the Westgate. The tour also encompasses the site of Winchester Castle and King Charles II's Royal Palace.
Lower City Tour 2pm
A 1½ hour walking tour of the lower part of the city. The tour commences at the Visitor Information Centre and visits Abbey Gardens before following the River Itchen past Wolvesey Castle, Winchester College and 8 College Street finishing in the Cathedral Close.
Please note that the tours run:
January – March 2024: Tours will run every Saturday
April 2024: Tours will run Monday – Saturday
May 2024 – August 2024: Tours will run 7 days a week
September 2024 – mid December 2024: Tours run Monday - Saturday

How to book a guided tour
Booking a guided tour in Winchester is simple and convenient.
Tickets are from £11 per person (no charge for essential carers and children) and can be purchased on the day, for the day in Winchester Visitor Information Centre, subject to availability.
To book in advance, once you have decided which tour you would like to book, click on the 'Book a guided tour' button below. This will take you to the Eventbrite page where you can select the tour and date of your choosing and pay online.
Tickets can be bought via Eventbrite until 9am on the morning of the tour. After this any remaining tickets can be purchased in person at the visitor information centre.
